Charles Shadle: Postcards from Native America for Wind Quintet (PDFs)

$70.00

For many years the Oklahoma vehicle registration plate bore the slogan “Native America” and as a Choctaw I took a certain delight in noting the recognition this gave to Indigenous people in the State where I was born. While the slogan has been replaced—perhaps it was deemed too politically charged—it surely reflected how deeply connected Oklahoma was to the Native American world. In my Postcards from Native America, I celebrate five of the tribes who call the region home, as well as evoking some of the character and history of the places that are the historic centers of their tribal governments. Postcards from Native America is a suite in five short movements.
